Work Session meeting, September 25, 2017, 6:30 p.m., City Manager's Conference room ITEM DATE AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND, REVISE AND REORDAIN CHAPTER 82, ARTICLE I, SECTION 82.5.1 PRETAINING TO ADMINISTRATIVE FEES AND COSTS FOR COTLECTION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAIEM, VIRGINIA, THAT SECTIONS 82-5.1, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER 82, of The code of the city of salem, virginia, be amended, revised and reordained to read as follows: CHAPTER 82 ARTICLE I. - ADMINISTRATIVE FEES AND COSTS FOR COLLECTION Sec. 82-5.1. - Administrative fees and costs for collection. To cover administrative costs of collection, there is hereby imposed upon the person or persons owing delinquent taxes or other charges administrative fees of: (1 ) $35.00 for taxes and other charges collected subsequent to judgment; or (2) $30.00 for taxes and other charges collected subsequent to 30 or more days after notice of delinquent taxes or charges pursuant to S 58.1-3919 of the Code of Virginia. Any such administrative fee shall be in addition to all penalties and interest. There is further imposed upon person or persons owing delinquent taxes or other charges an attorney's or collection agency's fees, actually contracted for, not to exceed 20 percent of the taxes or other charges so collected. , There is further imposed upon person or persons who have failed to timely pay personal property taxes a $2O{O $25,00 administrative fee for division of motor vehicle withholding. The administrative fee for setoff debt claims, not to exceed $25.00 may be added to the amount of the claim. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed.
