HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/13/2006 - Planning Commission - Agenda -Regular, . Petition for Zoning Amendment Reason( s) for Rezoning Request August 23, 2006 Commonwealth Builders Inc previously owned this property, 129 Mill Lane. That entity petitioned the city to rezone the property from residential to BC. The corporation invested in upgrading the buildings, parking and landscaping kl attract long-term renters, to no avail. As the area flooded, it disrupted the businesses. With the inconvenience and disruption, the renters left. It has been vacant for two years. I acquired the property as settlement, during the demise of that corporation. I have examined possible solutions and avenues to make the commercial property gain a financial return. Any changes or expansions to the existing buildings, to lure long term renters, are limited and restricted by the fact the property is located in the 100 year flood plain, partly located in the flood way and is pie shaped. It has a limiting use by the fact it is on a septic tank and has no public sanitary sewer available to it. It best use is a residential property beside being surrounded by residences. I am asking the commission to rezone the property RSF. Thank you, David E. Derr, Jr.
