HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/10/2010 - City Council - Minutes - SpecialUNAPPROVED MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING November 10, 2010 A special meeting of the Council of the City of Salem, Virginia, was held in Council Chambers, City Hall, 114 North Broad Street, on November 10, 2010, at 5:00 p.m., there being present all the members of said Council, to wit: Byron Randolph Foley, John C. Givens, Jane W. Johnson, William D. Jones, and Lisa D. Garst; with Byron Randolph Foley, Mayor, presiding; together with Kevin S. Boggess, City Manager; and James E. Taliaferro, II, Clerk of Council and Assistant City Manager; and the following business was transacted: Mayor Foley reported that this date, place, and time was set as a special meeting of City Council, in accordance with Section 4.6 (b) of The Charter of the City of Salem, Virginia, in order to interview the candidates for the Salem School Board to fill the expiring terms of Sarah W. (Sally) Southard and William Sinkler; and WHEREAS, it was announced at the November 8, 2010, regular City Council meeting that special meetings would be held on November 10, 2010, to hold interviews for candidates for the Salem School Board ; and WHEREAS, it was noted that a total of nine (5) applicants were scheduled to be interviewed; and WHEREAS, Sarah (Sally) Southard was interviewed at 5:00 p.m., Michelle Darby was interviewed at 5:30 p.m., Tom Cook was interviewed at 6:00 p.m., David Wells was interviewed at 7:00 p.m., and Artice M. Ledbetter was interviewed at 7:30 p.m.; THEREUPON, said interviews were concluded at 7:50 p.m. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
