HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/8/2009 - City Council - Minutes - SpecialUNAPPROVED MINUTES COUNCIL MEETING December 8, 2009 A special meeting of the Council of the City of Salem, Virginia, was held in Council Chambers, City Hall, 114 North Broad Street, on December 8, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., there being present all the members of said Council, to wit: Byron Randolph Foley, John C. Givens, Jane W. Johnson (arrived late), William D. Jones, and Lisa D. Garst; with Byron Randolph Foley, Mayor, presiding; together with Kevin S. Boggess, City Manager; and James E. Taliaferro, II, Clerk of Council and Assistant City Manager; and the following business was transacted: Mayor Foley reported that this date, place, and time was set as a special meeting of City Council, in accordance with Section 4.6 (b) of The Charter of the City of Salem, Virginia, in order to interview the candidates for the Salem School Board to fill the expiring term of C. Wayne Adkins and Cindy Neathawk; and WHEREAS, it was announced at the November 23, 2009, regular City Council meeting that special meetings would be held on December 7 and 8, 2009, to hold interviews for candidates for the Salem School Board; and WHEREAS, it was noted that a total of nine (9) applicants were scheduled to be interviewed; and WHEREAS, Michelle Darby was interviewed at 4:00 p.m., David Wells was interviewed at 4:20 p.m., Cindy Neathawk was interviewed at 4:40 p.m., Michael Chiglinsky was interviewed at 5:00 p.m., Nancy Bradley was interviewed at 5:20 p.m., and Steve Bowery was interviewed at 5:40 p.m.; THEREUPON, said interviews were concluded at 6:55 p.m. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
